When true sustainability meets cutting edge performance
Reducing waste and carbon footprint has become an imperative for retail brands and their consumers alike. 1. Radio performance
The precision laser cut antennas are optimized for superior performance on paper substrate while keeping mass production radio performance variances very low. The radio performance has been independently confirmed by the RFID Lab at Auburn University as they have officially approved dozens of Smartrac's inlays and tags including our Green RFID tags and inlays according to the ARC specifications for a broad variety of applications.
2. Manufacturing quality
Early in 2019, Smartrac was one of the first companies to receive the comprehensive and significant ARC Quality Certification for the design and manufacturing of our RFID inlays and tags. Building on industry standard quality certification practices of ISO and other standards organizations, the certification program audited Smartrac’s Quality Management System in a multi-step review process, including site visits. This validates that Smartrac has the experience, expertise, and resources to ensure that the product performance is continually sustained and delivered over time and volume. Green Retail RFID tags from Smartrac completely meet the high reliability and mechanical stress endurance levels of our traditional retail inlays.
3. Carbon footprint reduction
According to an LCA study by an independent institute, Green RFID tags and inlays provide typically 70 to 90% savings in carbon footprint compared to most traditional products available in the market today. The precision laser cutting antenna manufacturing process is very energy efficient compared to etching and the cut aluminum residues can be easily recycled.
4. Waste avoidance
Our green tag products are free of heavy metals such as tin or bismuth as typically used for printed antenna technology and free of conflict minerals as well. Consisting mostly of paper, they are plastic-free and easily recyclable with existing standard paper recycling processes. The paper substrate as main component is biodegradable while the aluminum and silicone components are not hazardous and remain neutral in typical landfill or composting environments. Compared to traditional products the Abiotic Depletion Potential (ADP) can be reduced by more than 95%.
