RFID STANDS FOR ZERO OUT-OF-STOCKS
Hansgrohe uses RFID to reduce the complexity of operational processes.
German manufacturer of bathroom and kitchen fittings Hansgrohe transports components in containers from its factory to the production facility.
The complexity of operational processes makes it difficult to guarantee the availability of parts to maximize worker productivity.
Hansgrohe added Web™ RFID inlays to bar-coded Kanban cards. Workers at the factory place Kanban cards in the sleeves of containers being shipped to the production facility. The data, collected by an RFID reader, is transferred to Hansgrohe’s ERP system.
- Automating the Kanban process has enabled Hansgrohe to track which components have been used, which items have been assembled and what components should be shipped between factories to ensure that stocks are replenished.
- Manufacturing downtime due to out-of-stocks has been eliminated.
- The RFID system has increased worker productivity by a full hour each day.
